Update on Garda vetting in the Diocese of Meath

Online Garda vetting has commenced

There has been a substantial increase in the volume of Garda vetting applications following the publication of the new legislation.  It is now the law that Garda vetting must be completed before a person can commence a new role for working with children.

In order to speed up the process, the Diocese of Meath has commenced “e-vetting”, which means that the Garda vetting application will now take place online.  An Garda Siochana explains that an e-vetting application can be responded to within 6 working days; previously it was taking up to 6 weeks.

Primary schools and parishes should download the following form –

Once this form is completed, it should be returned by post to the Vetting Office at Bishop’s House, Mullingar.

At that point, Linda Duncan will send an email to the applicant, together with the online link to begin the e-vetting process.

If the applicant does not have an email address or internet connection, the form should be returned by post and then Linda will provide the necessary assistance.  Otherwise, however, the e-vetting process applies to everyone.

For information on the status of a completed application, Linda can be contacted directly by email (linda_duncan1@outlook.com).
