The Diocese of Meath has published the schedule of Masses, confessions and carol services for Christmas.
A total of 264 Masses will be celebrated in the 69 parishes on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Bishop Michael Smith will preside at Mass in the Cathedral on Christmas Eve at 10.00pm and in St Mary’s Church, Navan on Christmas Day at 11.00am.
There will be Midnight Mass in St Mary’s Drogheda, Durrow, Nobber, Rosemount and Rushwee. Masses with a particular focus on children and families will be celebrated in a number of churches, including Kildalkey, Holy Family (Drogheda), St Mary’s (Drogheda), Drumraney, Dunshaughlin, Kingscourt, Mullingar, Rochfortbridge and Trim.
The Jubilee Year of Mercy has given an added emphasis to the celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation in preparation for Christmas. All parishes are providing opportunities for confessions. For example, confessions will be available on Christmas Eve in St Mary’s Church, Navan from 12 noon until 4pm and in the Cathedral in Mullingar from 12 noon until 5.30pm.
Masses for the Polish community will take place in Ashbourne and St Mary’s Parish, Drogheda while parishioners from various nationalities will take part in the prayers at a number of Christmas Masses in Mullingar.
