Two men from the Diocese of Meath reached a milestone in their priestly formation when they were ordained deacons by Archbishop Diarmuid Martin during a Mass celebrated in Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth. The congregation, of approximately five hundred people, was made of family, friends, seminarians, deacons and priests.
Rev. Noel Weir and Rev. Conor Magee were among nine new deacons ordained last Sunday. They will assist in parishes of the Diocese of Meath during the summer months before making their final preparations for priestly ordination.
The Diocese of Meath will welcome a third new deacon, Warren Collier, whose ordination will take place on Wednesday 17 June in Rome, where he is currently studying for the priesthood.
Meanwhile preparations are underway at St Mary’s Parish, Navan for the priestly ordination of Rev. Robert McGivney on Sunday 28 June. A Holy Spirit Novena is taking place every Tuesday morning in St Mary’s Church ahead of the ordination. The Parish Choir and the Youth Choir are rehearsing and much work is being undertaken to mark this special occasion.
You are asked to keep these men in your prayers and to pray for more vocations to the priesthood in the Diocese of Meath.
