The National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland will undertake a review of safeguarding practice in the Diocese of Meath on 9 – 11 December 2013.

The review will examine the handling of complaints in the Diocese of Meath, as well as the policy and procedures in place for safeguarding children.   The review includes a series of interviews with safeguarding personnel and members of diocesan committees.  The Diocese of Meath welcomes the review which was requested by Bishop Michael Smith in compliance with the diocesan safeguarding children policy.  Any survivors of abuse by Church personnel who have not already come forward are invited to contact the Designated Liaison Person, Fr Sean Henry, at 086 1574774 or to contact the HSE or An Garda Siochana. Contact details can be found on the dedicated Meath diocesan safeguarding website (www.meathsafeguarding.ie).
