Ian Callanan is one of Ireland’s leading composers of liturgical music. He will present music workshops for the Diocesan Choir on Tuesday 20 March at 8pm at Dowdstown House, Navan and at St Finian’s College, Mullingar on Thursday 29 March at 8pm.

Having been involved with liturgical music for over 20 years, Ian Callanan is an accomplished composer, arranger, score editor and workshop leader.

As part of the preparation for the International Eucharistic Congress, Ian’s services are being retained to support the objectives of the Congress through the interactive teaching of the new Mass settings in the national programme “Sing the Mass”, the Congress hymn “Though we are many” and other music that will support the preparation for the Eucharistic Congress in schools and parishes.  The composer explains that “the goal of the music programme for IEC2012 is to encourage the entire assembly to participate as fully as possible in the liturgies of the week”.

The Diocesan Choir will also participate in the Spring Choral Festival in Laytown on Sunday 29 April at 7pm.  Rehearsals for this event will take place on Wednesday 18 April in St Finian’s College, Mullingar at 8pm and on Thursday 26 April at 8pm in Dowdstown House, Navan.
