The “Grandparents Book of Prayers” was launched in Kingscourt on Sunday 4 March 2012.
The author of the book, Padraig McIntrye, is a writer, director and actor. Speaking at the launch, he commended the important role of grandparents in passing on faith and values to their grandchildren. He urged parents and grandparents to help the children “to live and achieve their dreams”. His read his favourite reflection from Pass it On:
“If you can perceive it in your head,and believe it in your heart, then you can achieve it. Anything is possible if you truly believe.”
This project was coordinated by the Parish Congress Committee in preparation for the forthcoming International Eucharistic Congress. Hundreds of prayers, poems and inspirational thoughts were received from grandparents in the Kingscourt parish. The book was edited by Ann Burns and published by local parishioner, Patricia O’Reilly.
The book is available in Kingscourt with the proceeds going entirely to the Church Renovation Fund.
