An online video featuring Fr Ray Kelly singing during a nuptial Mass has gone viral.
The Youtube clip, which has over 2 million hits, was recorded at the wedding of Chris and Leah O’Kane.
A native of Tyrrellspass, Co. Westmeath Fr Kelly served on the missions before taking up an appointment in the Diocese of Meath. He ministered in Navan and is currently the Parish Priest of Oldcastle. This year marks the silver jubilee of Fr Kelly’s priestly ordination.
Speaking to The Irish Times, Fr Kelly said: “I’m working on a third album, and I’m hoping it will raise money for local charities. The first one was called Simply Me and the second More of Me. I’ve had suggestions the new one should be called No More of Me! ” In a BBC interview, Fr Kelly also said: “I enjoy singing, but I wouldn’t want to do it full time — I love what I’m doing as a priest. The way I look at it is, it’s a gift one has, and if you have a gift you use it.”
