Mullingar Parish Mission, 29 March – 2 April 2014
The Parish Mission is conducted by Fr Denis McBride CSSR, Director of Redemptorist Publications in the UK. Fr McBride is a noted Scripture scholar and author of numerous publications. The Parish Mission has a strong focus on the Word of God, looking at the life of Jesus through the witness of his disciples. Fr McBride’s message is that discipleship requires witness, which comes first from knowing and loving Jesus. The programme includes an emphasis on the participation of children and young people, as well as a guided prayer before the Blessed Sacrament (led by the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal, Drogheda) and the Anointing of the Sick for those burdened by illness of the body, mind or spirit. The Parish Mission is part of the celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the consecration of the Cathedral of Christ the King.
