Bishop Michael Smith is leading the diocesan pilgrimage to the Holy Land on 15 – 25 October 2012. The pilgrimage, which is the first since 1999, is organised to mark the recently commenced Year of Faith.
Bishop Smith will celebrate Mass for the 100 pilgrims at the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem and the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. A Holy Hour will take place in the Garden of Gethsemane and pilgrims will renew their baptismal vows at the River Jordan. Fr Gerry MacCormack will join Bishop Smith for Mass with the renewal of vows for forty married couples at Cana.
