Mass from the Church of the Nativity of Our Lady, Kilmessan will be broadcast to Eurovision via RTE and EBU on Christmas Eve at 11pm.
Being a small rural parish, this has meant the involvement of many parishioners including the parish choir. We are blessed with people of talent who can sing and play musical instruments as well as those who can deliver readings and prayers in different languages. However, the main focus is on having the presence of Jesus among us so that our humble efforts radiate the Christian message that we proclaim.
To date Finbar Tracey SVD of Kairos and his team have guided us regarding what is involved in this ambitious project.
In setting the scene, a photographer has picked up on local places of historical interest with a parishioner doing a voiceover as a preamble to the Mass.
The Choir under the leadership of Lisa Rooney Smith has been working on the repertoire for the past few months. It earned a good reputation having performed on the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes in 2016 and recently in Krakow, Poland. They will be augmented by the Treble Youth Choir on the night.
We are looking to this event as an opportunity to grow as a Christian community. It is primarily a parish living the intensity of working together , in prayer and reflection so that we can contribute something special this Christmas.
We hope you can unite with us as we celebrate the birth of Christ, our Lord and Saviour.
