St Finian’s College, Mullingar will host a Gala fundraising concert on Saturday 10th October 2015.
The concert will mark the 45th anniversary of the Schola Cantorum together with the official opening of a new state of the art Music Centre which has been completed in St Finian’s over the past 12 months. The new building comprises two specialist music classrooms together with a music technology laboratory on the ground floor, and a suite of eight smaller music rooms, a music library and a staff area on the first floor.
The concert promises to be a very entertaining evening of music on October 10th. There will be huge variety in the concert, featuring many of our exceptionally talented current student cohort – school choirs, soloists, traditional and classical music ensembles. We are very happy to welcome back some of our distinguished past pupils who are engaged in performance on a professional level: Sarah Brady (Soprano), Emmet Cahill (tenor), Gavan Ring (baritone), Cian Farrelly (flute), as well as the up and coming pop-folk duo Hudson-Taylor who are returning from London to their alma mater for the event. We also welcome three very accomplished accompanists from amongst our past pupils – Padhraic O’Cuinneagáin, Séamus Brett and Adam Collins.
This concert follows the huge success of the Schola 40th which was held in the sublime surroundings of The College Chapel in Maynooth back in October 2010. This year, school principal Fr Paul Connell and his staff are thrilled to be hosting the concert in the School Hall, a spectacular building which has housed many wonderful Gilbert and Sullivan productions since the foundation of the college.
Tickets for the event are available from The School Office (044) 9348672 or from Fagans Office Supplies. €20 adults; €15 students.
